Hi folks, From what I hear around the Town, the new Town budget in Acton is going to be something of a shock. In the current fiscal year, the Town of Acton has over spent its budget. Proposed department budgets for next year contain significant increases. In preparation for the showdown at Spring Town Meeting, the school superintendent has already begin cutting its after school and summer programs. No doubt we will be further threatened with teacher layoffs, less Town Hall hours, and less road maintenance if we do not approve their increases. GO FOR IT - YOU WON'T SCARE ME.
Personally, I have had enough of the "pay more taxes and receive less Town services" plan. How can I tolerate more of this. As it stands now, my $3k per year property taxes gets me nothing so I can't get less. I wouldn't mind paying more if the Town would take responsibility for its roads, or would be fiscally responsible with the $$ they already get - this is obviously not going to change. I am finished subsidizing Town welfare programs that mostly benefit the unworthy.

We need new leadership in this Town. Nancy Ruma does not have the leadership skills necessary to lead this town in a forward direction. She's been on the board for almost 8 years now, and the Town is worse off now than it was when she took office. She couldn't make a decision if her life depended on it. Do you know that the Town ran out of money this month? We only had about $33,000 in the checking account and over $200,000 in bills to pay. The selectmen had to borrow money last minute to pay the bills! I wonder if those running the town balance their own checkbooks that way?

TALKING TO A FRIEND TODAY. HE TELLS ME THERE IS A SPECIAL TOWN MEETING TO ADD $190,000 TO THE OVER SPENT ROAD ACCOUNT ON TUESDAY. CAN ANYONE ADD AT THE TOWN HALL? IS THIS GOING TO BE ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE TOWN FESTS THAT THE PUBLIC IS NOT WELCOME? iS THIS GOING TO COVER THE PRIVATE PROPERTIES THAT THE ROAD CREWS WRECKED? WHAT ABOUT CLAIRE'S WELL THAT THEY SALTED? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
THINKING HERE THAT SCOTT IS MORE RIGHT THAN WRONG. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN? CAN'T GET ANY ANSWERS FROM THE TOWN. MY VOTE SO FAR IS HELL NO.
AND WHERE DOES JESUS FIT INTO THIS ANYWAY? SHOULD WE OFFER A PRAYER FOR THE TOWN?

I do pray for the Town, quite often. Jesus said in Matthew 18:19,20, "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
