Maine Emergency Management has notified towns that there is over $1 million in emergency "mitigation" funds available for qualified projects. As I understand, these funds can only be applied for by a town (or Indian tribe, certain PNPs), to be used for disaster mitigation projects. Maine will only pay 75%, the remainder must be locally funded.
FOLD has asked the Town of Acton to apply for such funding for disaster mitigation on Buzzell Road, Acton. FOLD has offered to cover the 25% local funding if necessary. This is to address significant drainage issues with the road.
Application must be in by April 18 so contact your town or local emergency management director quickly if you have a worthy project.
